Look no further than Bellport for the small-town Long Island charm.

“There’s a real love of village life, the idea that you go into a shop and you know the person, there are festivities like this, I noticed a lot more houses decorated with lights this year,” said Bellport’s Mayor Maureen Veitch.“People are yearning for positivity. If people want Mayberry USA…we’re here.”

Village Trustee Lorraine Kuehn joined the Mayor as kids scurried about with balloons and activities at the Bellport Community Center on Bell Street Breakfast with Santa event.

The Village of Bellport also held its fifth annual wreath decorating contest. Twenty-six wreaths were entered this year and hung on lampposts in town by the Village of Bellport Public Works Department and the Bellport Chamber of Congress. Winners will be announced in the last week before Christmas, determined by a special committee.
