SCPD Arrests Juvenile for Robbing Delivery Drivers in Bellport, Patchogue, and Shirley

A Bellport youth has been arrested for a string of robberies that targeted food delivery drivers in the Patchogue, Shirley, and Bellport hamlets.

The Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) arrested a 17-year-old juvenile yesterday for robbing multiple delivery drivers since February. The Bellport resident teen called local restaurants to order food deliveries to various locations in Bellport, Patchogue, and Shirley on five separate occasions between February 22 and April 13. His established pattern was to display what appeared to be a handgun to the delivery drivers upon arrival at the given address, then rob the victims of their cell phones and cash before fleeing the scene.

Fifth Squad SCPD detectives conducted an investigation, then arrested at 80 Horseblock Road in Bellport on April 15 at approximately 2:35 p.m. He is being charged with Robbery 1st Degree for the following incidents:
• A Chinese food delivery driver was robbed while delivering to a home on Montauk Highway in Bellport on February 25 at approximately 9 p.m.
• A pizza delivery driver was robbed while delivering to a home on Doane Avenue in Bellport on March 1 at 8:23 p.m.
• A pizza delivery driver was robbed while delivering to a home on Terry Street in Patchogue on March 7 at 10 p.m.
• A pizza delivery driver was robbed while delivering to a home on Brushwood Drive in Shirley on February 22 at approximately 8:05 p.m.

He is also being charged with Robbery 2nd Degree for robbing another pizza delivery driver at a residence located on Michigan Avenue in Bellport on April 13 at approximately 8:25 p.m.

The teen is also being additionally, he is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree for stealing a motor vehicle at 700 Yaphank Road in Patchogue on February 2 at approximately 8:40 a.m.

The youth’s identity is being withheld due to his age, was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
