Neither flood or freezes would stop the show at Fire Island School Tuesday night, January 16, as the students of Woodhull School performed “The Jolly Pirates of Piñataville,” a holiday musical for young voices by Teresa Jennings and Karle Hitzemann. The children performed to a packed audience in the Woodhull School gymnasium and more viewers were enjoying the production from their homes, and the play was live streamed.
This production was a true family affair, with every Woodhull staff member having a role in making it happen. Art teacher Bianca Daidone painted the stage set, ever-popular music teacher Michael Vitale served as Director, and even Fire Island School District Superintendent Travis Davey made a cameo appearance playing maracas while donning a pirate costume.
The PTA mothers held a fundraising raffle in conjunction with the event. Congratulations to Amy and Sam Wood of Kismet for winning the lottery ticket wreath Grand Prize! Transportation, building maintenance, along with teacher assistants helped serve cake, cookies and a refreshing batch of that famous Woodhull School punch shortly after the talented kids took their final bows on stage. Everyone went with a smile.
